Buy to let Mortgage Criteria in brief

  • Borrowers must be homeowners – not first time buyers
  • One applicant should have a minimum income of £25k. This cant be rental income or benefit income
  • You will need a minimum 25% deposit (30% for new build flats)
  • The maximum loan is £750k

  • Santander will consider lending to Portfolio landlords with up to 10 properties. Maximum 3 with Santander
  • Competitive fixed rates and a low standard variable rate
  • Free basic valuation and standard legal fees paid (remortgage only)
  • Agreement in principle with a soft footprint
  • Remortgages to raise money for personal use including debt consolidation
  • Lettings to housing associations or local authorities are considered

Santander buy to let restrictions

  • Santander are quite strict regarding adverse credit
  • Buy to let remortgage applications are only accepted from Portfolio landlords if there is no capital raising
  • Portfolio landlords are not accepted for buy to let purchase mortgage applications
  •  Santander dont accept mortgage applications from Limited companies
  • This mortgage is NOT suitable for a holiday let
